Sandhill Cranes Mating Pair

Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge - Lipsec, Delaware
September 3rd, 2023
When I took this capture, this mating pair of Sandhill Cranes had been coming to Bombay for at least a couple years, spending most of their time in Bear Swamp. On this morning, the cranes had been digging in the mud, as the evidence shows on their beaks, for some early day breakfast. The light of the morning sun was very warm in color and created this Fall like tint across the landscape and my subjects. Sandhill Cranes are a lot of fun to photograph.

I am in my 50's and happily married with 5 daughters from our blended family. I became interested in photography just a few short years ago, much later in life than many but my passion is strong. I started out experimenting with scenic mountain shots, landscapes, flowers and anything nature as being outside is where I am happiest.
